Fewer viewers. Each one matters more.

A corporate video is watched by a buyer evaluating you, a partner deciding whether to proceed, or a candidate considering a job. Small audience, high stakes, and completely different from social video.

Short answer

Corporate video editing produces company profile films, facility tours, testimonials and internal video. The audience is small, deliberate and commercially valuable — a buyer, a partner, a candidate — which means clarity, credibility and accurate information matter far more than stopping a scroll.

Corporate film nobody finishes? Get a Free Quote

01 The premise

A different audience entirely.

Corporate video suffers from being judged by social media standards, which is the wrong frame. Nobody expects a company profile film to go viral, and optimising it for attention-grabbing openings misses what it is actually for. It is shown in a meeting, embedded on a page a prospect reached deliberately, or sent to somebody evaluating whether to work with you.

That audience will watch. What they will not tolerate is vagueness. A film full of aspirational language, drone shots and stock-footage handshakes tells a buyer nothing and quietly signals there is nothing specific to show. The films that work are concrete: this is the facility, this is the process, this is the capacity, these are the people.

Length is the other common error. Corporate films drift towards eight minutes because every department wanted a section. A buyer watching to evaluate you gives it two or three, and a shorter film that respects that is more persuasive than a comprehensive one that is abandoned halfway.

02 Types

What actually gets commissioned.

Each with a different audience and a different job.

Company profile

For prospects and partners evaluating you. Capability, scale, process and people — specific rather than aspirational.

Facility and plant

Showing the operation. Frequently the most persuasive video a manufacturer can have, and the most underused.

Testimonials

Customers explaining a specific problem you solved. Far more convincing than generic praise, and harder to obtain.

Process and capability

How something is made or done. Answers technical questions a page cannot and shortens sales conversations.

Recruitment

For candidates deciding whether to apply. An underused format, particularly for manufacturing and field roles.

Internal and training

Process training, inductions, safety. Watched because it is required, so clarity matters more than polish.

03 Credibility

What makes corporate video credible.

Specifics, mostly. Production value matters far less than people assume.

Credibility

  • Real footage of the real place. Your factory, your team, your work. Stock footage in a company profile actively signals there is nothing to show.
  • Named people speaking. With their actual role. Anonymous voices and actors are recognised and discounted.
  • Specific claims. Capacity, years, certifications, sectors served. Numbers a buyer can check.
  • Clear audio. The most common technical failure in corporate video, and the one viewers forgive least.
  • Subtitles. Frequently watched in an office without sound, or by non-native speakers. A subtitle file costs little.
  • A short version too. Two minutes for the website, five for a meeting. Different audiences need different lengths.
  • A date somewhere. So a four-year-old film is recognised as old rather than believed as current.

Would a buyer learn anything from it?

Send me your current corporate film. I will watch it as somebody evaluating you and tell you what I learnt, what I could not find, and where I would have stopped.

04 Straight talk

What works, and what does not.

From what buyers actually respond to.

Persuasive

  • Showing the operation. Machines running, work being done. Concrete and difficult to fake.
  • Specific capability claims. Tolerances, capacities, certifications. Buyers filter on these.
  • Customers being specific. A named problem and what changed. Worth ten generic testimonials.
  • Named people with real roles. It makes an organisation feel like people rather than a website.

Wasted

  • Drone footage of the building. Universally used, entirely uninformative, and expensive.
  • Aspirational language. “Committed to excellence” communicates nothing to a buyer comparing suppliers.
  • Stock handshakes and offices. Signals there is nothing real to show. Actively harmful.
  • Eight-minute runtimes. Every department gets a section, nobody watches past three minutes.
