Designed for the two seconds it actually gets.

Commercial design is not judged in a portfolio. It is judged in a feed, on a notice board, at 32 pixels in a browser tab, or on a slide somebody is reading while half-listening.

Short answer

Graphic design covers the visual work a business needs: identity, social content, print, presentations and campaign creative. What separates commercial design from decoration is that each piece is made for a specific placement, size and moment of attention rather than adapted to it afterwards.

01 The premise

Placement decides everything.

The commonest fault in commercial design is not taste. It is that the designer was never told exactly where the work would run. A layout drawn at A4 and then used as a feed post loses its hierarchy. A logo designed for a signboard turns to mud as a favicon. A slide designed to be presented becomes unreadable when it is forwarded to somebody who was not in the room.

None of those are failures of skill. They are failures of brief, and they are almost universal because design is usually commissioned separately from the campaign it serves. The designer produces something good in the abstract, and it meets reality later, cropped.

Because I am usually the person placing the media, that gap does not exist. A feed image is designed knowing what sits above and below it. An ad creative is made knowing the platform crops it. A brochure is designed knowing it will be handed over at the end of a meeting and read a week later, if at all. That knowledge changes the design rather than merely the export settings.

02 The work

What actually gets commissioned.

Each has its own page, because each has a genuinely different constraint.

Logo and identity

A mark that works at every size and a system that holds together afterwards.

Logo Design

Social media design

Made for the feed, the story and the reel — three different shapes, not one resized.

Social Media Design

Print

Brochures and flyers that survive being read away from you, days later.

Brochure Design

Presentations

Slides that argue rather than decorate, and still work when forwarded.

Presentation Design

Campaign creative

Ad images and formats built for the placement they will run in, at the size it will run.

03 Included

What is always part of the job.

Not extras, and not negotiated separately.

Included

  • Every size you need. Exports for each placement, sized correctly rather than scaled from one master.
  • Editable source files. Yours, handed over. Withholding them creates a dependency, not quality.
  • Checked at real size. On a phone, at actual dimensions, before approval. A great deal of design does not survive that test.
  • Accessible contrast. Text that can actually be read, including by people whose eyesight is not perfect.
  • Consistent with what exists. Working inside your brand where you have one, and noting the rules your material already implies where you do not.
  • Print-ready where relevant. Bleed, margins, colour mode and resolution correct, so a printer does not have to fix it.

Send me what you are running now.

An ad, a post, a brochure, a deck. I will tell you honestly whether the design is holding it back or whether the problem is the offer, the targeting or the page it points to.

  • An honest answer, including "leave it alone"
  • Judged at the size it actually runs
  • Source files always handed over

04 Process

How a piece gets made.

01

Placement first

Where it runs, at what size, against what. Everything downstream is decided by this.

One message

The most common fix I make is removing three of the four things a draft is trying to say.

03

Design at real dimensions

Built in the actual size from the start rather than resized at the end, which is where quality quietly dies.

Review in context

Hand over everything

Exports in every size, plus source files. You should never need me to change a phone number.
