Every other sector can advertise whenever it likes. An institution has one admission window, it is the same one every year, and being discovered after it opens means being discovered too late.
Short answer
Education digital marketing generates admission enquiries for schools, colleges, coaching institutes and training providers. It is dominated by the admission calendar, requires addressing parents and students separately, and works through counselling rather than sales pressure.
Four details. A real reply the same day, from me.
01 The premise
For most courses the decision involves two people who want different things. The student cares about the subject, the campus, the people and what daily life will be like. The parent cares about fees, placements, accreditation and safety. Both read the same website, and most institution websites are written for one of them — usually the parent, in prospectus language.
The answer is not to choose. Serve both explicitly, clearly separated so each reader finds their part quickly. They can also be targeted separately in campaigns, because a parent and a seventeen-year-old are not reachable in the same place with the same message.
The second constraint is the calendar, and it is absolute. Content must be published and ranking before the window opens, which means months ahead. Paid budget must concentrate inside the window. An institution advertising evenly across the year is spending most of its money when nobody is deciding anything.
02 Straight talk
Both sets belong on the page. Answering only one loses the enquiry.
03 The year
Planned backwards from the decision date rather than forwards from today.

Institutions considered early make more shortlists than those discovered late.
Search and social budget where the enquiries actually happen. Most of the money belongs here.
An advisory conversation. Aggressive follow-up damages reputation among parents who talk to each other.
Students who chose elsewhere may return, or have siblings, or be asked for a recommendation.

04 Requirements
Most of these are trust requirements rather than marketing ones.

Content and SEO months ahead so pages rank in time; paid advertising concentrated in the weeks when families are actually deciding. Starting paid campaigns after the window opens means competing for attention against institutions already on the shortlist.
Both, separately. They are reachable in different places and want different information — the student wants the experience, the parent wants the outcome and the cost. A single generic campaign under-serves both.
Yes, including extras. Fee opacity is the most common trust problem in Indian education marketing, and families comparing institutions exclude the ones that hide it. A clear total also prevents a difficult conversation later.
Only accurate ones, honestly framed — what percentage of which cohort, and the median rather than the highest package achieved. Inflated claims are increasingly fact-checked by parents online, and being contradicted publicly is far more damaging than a modest number.
As counselling rather than sales. Answer questions, be honest about fit, and accept a no. Education buyers talk to each other extensively, and a reputation for aggressive follow-up costs more than the enquiries were worth.
Keep them. Some reapply, some have younger siblings, and many are asked for recommendations by other families. Institutions routinely discard this list, and it is the cheapest source of future admissions they have.
