Rankings are a result. Not a service.

Nobody can sell you a position in Google’s results, because Google does not sell them. What can be sold is the work that makes a page the best available answer — and the honesty to tell you when it is not.

Short answer

SEO is the work of making a website the answer a search engine wants to show: a site it can crawl and understand, pages that genuinely answer a specific search, and enough external credibility to be trusted. It compounds slowly, costs nothing per click once earned, and no honest practitioner can guarantee a position.

01 The premise

Three questions Google is actually asking.

Strip away the jargon and search engines are asking three things about your page. Can I reach and understand it? Does it genuinely answer the thing that was searched? And does anything outside this website suggest it is trustworthy? Almost every legitimate SEO task is an answer to one of those three.

The order matters, and it is where most money is wasted. Businesses buy content and links for a site that Google cannot crawl properly, has indexed twice under different URLs, or that loads so slowly on mobile that visitors leave before it renders. That is building the second floor before the foundation, and it is the most common paid-for mistake in the industry.

The uncomfortable part is timing. Technical repairs can change how a site is crawled within weeks. Competitive rankings take months, and depend on where you start, who you are competing with, and how much content already exists on the subject. Anybody giving you a date is guessing or lying, and the two are hard to tell apart from outside.

02 The stack

The three layers, in order.

Work done out of this order is usually wasted. This is the sequence, not a menu.

Technical — can it be read?

Crawl errors, index coverage, canonical tags, redirect chains, sitemap, robots.txt, page speed, mobile rendering and structured data. This is where most sites are quietly broken, and it is unglamorous enough that it often goes unsold.

On-page — does it answer?

Keyword research mapped to individual pages, titles written to be clicked, a sane heading hierarchy, body copy that answers the question fully, internal links and image alt text. One page per intent, never one page for six.

Off-page — is it credible?

Mentions, citations, profiles and genuine links from places that have reason to reference you. Slow, unglamorous, and the part most vulnerable to being faked by people selling packages.

03 Straight talk

What I do, and what I will not.

The right column is why some agencies show faster early results and lose them later.

The work

  • Fix the technical foundation first. Crawl, index, speed and structure, before a word of content is commissioned.
  • One page per search intent. Splitting combined pages is often the single largest available gain on an established site.
  • Write for the question. Content that answers completely, structured so it can also be lifted into an answer box.
  • Earn mentions honestly. Directories that matter, real profiles, and content worth referencing.
  • Report the losses too. What dropped, and what I am doing about it.

Never

  • Guarantee a ranking. Google does not sell organic placement. Anyone promising position one is describing an ad.
  • Buy links. It works until an update, then it costs more to undo than it ever earned.
  • Build doorway pages. Forty near-identical city pages is a named spam pattern, not a local strategy.
  • Keyword stuff. It reads badly to humans and has not worked on engines for a decade.
  • Publish unedited AI content. It is detectable, it is thin, and it undermines the credibility the rest of the work is building.

04 Process

How the work actually runs.

01

Audit

A full technical and content crawl: what Google can reach, what it has indexed, what is broken, and which of your pages are competing with each other. You get the findings whether or not you hire me.

CrawlIndexSpeed
02

Map

Which searches end in money, what they are worth, who owns them now, and which single page should target each one. Duplicated intent is the most common finding.

IntentValueGaps
03

Fix

Technical repairs first, then titles, structure, schema and internal links. The cheapest wins on an established site are almost always here.

04

Publish

Content for the gaps that matter, written to answer completely and structured for extraction as well as ranking.

05

Report

What moved, what did not, and what changes next month. In plain language, with the disappointments included.

05 Reporting

What the monthly report contains.

Written to be read by you, not to look impressive.

What was done
Specific tasks, not "ongoing optimisation". You should be able to check the work.
Rankings, in context
Movement on the keywords that matter, with a note on why. Rankings alone are vanity; rankings on commercial searches are not.
Traffic and behaviour
Sessions from search, which pages earned them, and what visitors did next.
Enquiries
The number that matters. Organic traffic that never contacts you is a content problem, not a success.
What did not work
Included deliberately. A report with no bad news is a sales document.
