Publish an indicative range
A starting project size or a per-square-foot indication, with what moves it. Honest and it filters at the top.

Nobody hires an interior designer from a description. They hire from photographs of rooms that look like the room they are imagining, and everything else is secondary.
Short answer
Digital marketing for interior designers is driven by visual proof. The portfolio does the selling, the budget conversation determines whether an enquiry is worth a meeting, and the sales cycle is long — so the work is showing enough to be considered and qualifying enough to avoid wasted consultations.
Four details. A real reply the same day, from me.
01 The premise
The recurring complaint from interior designers is not a shortage of enquiries. It is enquiries from people whose budget is a fraction of what the project would cost, discovered after a site visit, a mood board and two meetings. Each of those costs a day that could have gone to a real client.
The cause is almost always that no price signal exists anywhere in the marketing. When a designer publishes nothing about cost, everybody enquires — including people imagining a full home renovation for the price of new curtains. Publishing an indicative range, or a starting project size, filters that at the enquiry stage rather than at the second meeting.
Designers resist this because interiors are genuinely variable and because they worry a number will frighten people away. Both are true, and the alternative is worse: a calendar full of consultations that were never going to convert. A range with the variables named is honest and it protects your time.
02 Portfolio
Beyond looking good, which is assumed.
03 Channels
Assessed honestly for a design practice.
| Channel | How it performs |
|---|---|
| Strong. The natural home for this work, and where many clients begin looking. Reels showing transformations perform particularly well. | |
| Underrated for interiors. Long-lived content, high intent, and users are explicitly planning. | |
| Google search | Location plus service terms. Lower volume, higher intent, and it reaches people ready to hire rather than browsing. |
| Meta ads | Effective for reach with strong visual creative, and it needs budget qualification or lead quality suffers. |
| Referral and word of mouth | Still the largest source for most practices. Marketing supports it rather than replacing it. |
| Builder and architect relationships | A distribution channel rather than a marketing one, and frequently the most valuable of all. |

04 Qualification
The balance between filtering and discouraging.
A starting project size or a per-square-foot indication, with what moves it. Honest and it filters at the top.
One question, framed as a band rather than an exact figure. Most serious clients answer it.
So clients can locate themselves in your work rather than guessing.
For clients not ready for a full project. Converts a wasted meeting into revenue.
Styling only, or full turnkey, or commercial only. Prevents an entire category of wrong enquiry.

Straight answers, including the ones that cost me work. If yours is not here, ask it — I reply the same day.
Publish an indicative range or a starting project size, and ask for a budget band in the enquiry form. Without any price signal everybody enquires, and the cost of finding out lands on your calendar rather than at the enquiry stage.
Yes — it is the natural home for this work and where many clients start looking. Reels showing transformations perform particularly well. Pinterest is also underrated for interiors, with longer-lived content and users who are explicitly planning.
The brief, the constraints, what you did, and several rooms from the same project rather than one styled corner. Before photographs, the property type and the scope. Clients are looking for their own situation, and specifics let them find it.
Long, and frequently months. Clients save, plan, discuss with family and compare several designers. Marketing has to support being remembered over that period rather than converting immediately, which changes what content is worth producing.
Yes. Instagram shows individual images well and complete projects badly, it cannot be searched by location and service, and it is not yours. A portfolio site holds full projects, ranks in search, and survives a platform change.
They can be, with strong visual creative and genuine budget qualification. Without qualification, Meta ads in particular produce large volumes of enquiries from people who cannot afford the work, which costs more in wasted meetings than the ads cost in spend.
